Feature to hide online status on WhatsApp, delete limit 2 days
WhatsApp may soon allow you to hide online status from certain contacts, according to reports. This feature allows users to choose who can see them while online on WhatsApp. It is likely to be available in a future update. Along with this, the time limit for deleting messages is also reported to be updated.
The feature was spotted in the Android beta 2.22.15.8 version of WhatsApp available through the Google Play beta program. According to a report by WabetaInfo, which tracks WhatsApp features, WhatsApp is developing a mechanism to hide online status from selected contacts.
This feature allows users to choose who can see their online status in WhatsApp privacy settings. The report has a screenshot showing the new privacy settings feature. This option is said to be in the testing phase and is likely to be available in a future update.
At the same time, it is also reported that WhatsApp is revising the time limit for deleting messages (delete for everyone). The update is said to be rolling out with version 2.22.15.8 for Android through the beta program. According to the report, the time limit for the 'Delete for Everyone' feature will be extended to two days and 12 hours from the existing time options of one hour, eight minutes and 16 seconds. A longer timeout will help users to delete messages sent in error
